ANNUAL FUNDRAISING APPEAL

Anglican Action has been engaged in supporting a number of global projects, which have included:

  • Support for the UNICEF-sponsored programme for the eradication of polio
  • Support for the Bara Anduliya project in West Bengal, India, in partnership with the Indian Society for Sponsorship and Adoption
  • Partnership with Partners Relief and Development in supporting the children of Burma

Anglican Action’s work in India has extended beyond measure and we have now reached the stage where we have realised that we will not be able to further expand our work in India with the limited resources we currently have in place. Anglican Action is committed to its mission of pursuing justice within and beyond the borders of Aotearoa/New Zealand and continuing its global work, particularly in India.

We appreciate your involvement and would invite and welcome your expression of support for our work in India by making a financial contribution to support an expansion of this work.

The need for expansion has been caused by an increase in the number of children in Bara Anduliya. The result has been a need for additional funding for food, clothing, medication, staffing and renovation work to accommodate all the children in Bara Anduliya. Anglican Action has also agreed to provide an additional subsidy to the Indian Society for Sponsorship and Adoption for the intake of each female child.

The work of Bara Anduliya is vital in protecting and maintaining vulnerable children of poor parents particularly female children who are totally dependant on the resources for their survival.

Anglican Action’s involvement has made a difference in the lives of children in Bara Anduliya. Indian Society for Sponsorship and Adoption offers a crèche (9am-3pm children below five years of age) and coaching centre (for school going children which is an hour of help with school work after school) with the support of Anglican Action. The attendance rate of the children in both the crèche and the coaching centre has increased and the children are reported to have improved health as a result of cooked meals, clothing allowance, stationery and hygiene packs given to them annually.

There is a need for continuing sponsorship and partnership to ensure that the work of this pioneering organization can be sustained.
