Counselling After A Traumatic Event”
using the Critical Incident Stress Debriefing process (CISD)

Margie first trained in CISD in 2004, while responding to incidents in Nigeria where she was based. She has since responded to suicides, rapes, accidents, violent deaths, hostage survivors and natural disasters, including the Christchurch and Nepal earthquakes and more recently, the terrorist shootings in Christchurch.

The workshop will cover the theory of what happens in the mind after a traumatic event; normal responses to an abnormal event; checking coping and support structures and provide a scaffolding to work with people in the initial aftermath. Practice will be included.
